Since the 1980s, Ruedi Baur has conceived his work as a designer within the context of the public space. He advocates for an interdisciplinary design based upon civic principles and deals with issues linked to identification, orientation, scenography and urban design such as the representation of institutions, urban spaces and political territories. He is a professor and research director at HEAD- Genève, ENSAD Paris and the University of Strasbourg. He is also a founding member of the Civic City Institute and the Socialdesign platform. Working with the Intégral Ruedi Baur Paris team, he has just designed the information system for passengers on the upcoming Grand Paris metro system (2022–2030).
